Upon contact with blood, ORC materials form a gelatinous mass that provides a matrix for platelet adhesion and aggregation, supporting clot formation. These materials are fully absorbable and typically resorbed during the healing process.

SPONGOSTAN™ – Absorbable Gelatin Hemostatic Sponge

SPONGOSTAN™ is a sterile, malleable porcine gelatin sponge that acts as a mechanical matrix for clot formation. It may be used dry or saturated with sterile saline solution and is suitable for non-ophthalmic surgical procedures requiring adjunctive bleeding control.
