The Ethicon MONOCRYL™ Absorbable Suture W3730 is a sterile synthetic absorbable monofilament suture manufactured from poliglecaprone 25, designed for soft tissue approximation and ligation.

MONOCRYL™ sutures are prepared from a copolymer of glycolide and ε-caprolactone, offering excellent handling characteristics, smooth tissue passage and dependable knot security during surgical procedures.

The monofilament construction minimises tissue drag and reduces the potential for bacterial adherence compared with braided sutures, making MONOCRYL™ suitable for delicate tissue approximation.

This version of MONOCRYL™ is dyed violet using D&C Violet No.2, improving visibility during surgical procedures. Sutures are also available in undyed versions depending on surgical preference.

Poliglecaprone 25 has been shown to be non-antigenic, non-pyrogenic and associated with minimal tissue reaction during absorption, allowing reliable wound support during the early stages of healing.

The suture is supplied attached to a stainless steel LH-50 surgical needle and packaged sterile for single-use surgical procedures.

MONOCRYL™ sutures are widely used in general surgery, plastic surgery, dermatologic procedures and subcuticular skin closure, where smooth tissue passage and predictable absorption are required.

MONOCRYL™ sutures comply with the European Pharmacopoeia requirements for sterile synthetic absorbable monofilament sutures and the United States Pharmacopoeia requirements for absorbable surgical sutures.
