The Ethicon SPONGOSTAN™ ANAL (MS0007) is a sterile, water-insoluble, malleable absorbable haemostatic sponge composed of purified porcine gelatin. Designed for haemostatic use in anorectal and confined surgical areas, SPONGOSTAN™ ANAL assists in the control of capillary, venous and arteriolar haemorrhage when conventional methods such as pressure, ligature or cautery are ineffective or impractical.

The gelatin sponge provides a mechanical matrix that promotes clot formation by supporting platelet aggregation. It may be applied dry or saturated with sterile sodium chloride solution depending on surgical preference and procedural requirements.

The malleable structure allows adaptation to irregular surfaces and difficult-to-access bleeding sites, particularly in anorectal procedures. The material is fully absorbable and gradually resorbed during healing.

Supplied sterile and ready to use directly from the package, product code MS0007 should be stored dry at controlled room temperature (15°–30°C). Intended for professional surgical use only.
