LuxSutures Catgut Plain Absorbable Surgical Sutures are natural absorbable sutures manufactured from purified collagen derived from the serosal layer of selected bovine sources. As a traditional absorbable suture material, Catgut Plain offers reliable handling characteristics and dependable knot security for procedures involving rapidly healing soft tissue.

These sutures are absorbed through enzymatic proteolytic processes, with approximately 50% tensile strength retained at 7 days and complete absorption typically occurring within 60–70 days. This biological absorption profile makes Catgut Plain suitable for applications where long-term tensile support is not required.

This variant is supplied in USP 5/0 (EP 1.5), 75 cm length, and fitted with a DS 16 (16 mm) reverse cutting needle, making it suitable for delicate soft tissue closure where controlled penetration and precise cutting action are required. The reverse cutting needle design places the cutting edge on the outer curvature, helping to reduce the risk of tissue cut-through while maintaining strength in fine tissue.
